Lions Women Income Generation Project

This project is specially designed for those women who are poor, vulnerable, conflict affected and widows that have forcefully migrated to Kathmandu in search of their basic needs. The targeted women of this project are unable to fulfill the education of their children because of their low income level. Due to extreme poverty, children of these women were forced to live in the streets until their shelter was provided recently by an INGO named Happy Home Nepal. Still, there was no proper income source of their mother. So, Lions Club of Kathmandu Bhrikuti , Lions Club of Worcester, England, Lions Club of Orlens Doyen, France and Happy Home Nepal have jointly decided to work for the reduction of poverty of these women.

This is  a permanent project and it serves needy women who cannot afford the minimum requirement of their livelihood.

The project’s basic task is to purchase vegetable in whole sale from the sources adjoining Kathmandu & is given to these women who on wooden/metal cart take it to different locality of town for sale. They are making profit every day & are being able to live & support their kids.

  • There is one storekeeper to manage the store and to deposit the amount received from the beneficiary women to the bank.
  • The Push-Carts and vegetables are provided to the women for daily business purpose.
  • The vegetables are purchased from the local farmers.

Project Objectives:

          • To make poor, vulnerable and conflict affected women economically independent and capable.
          • To empower these poor women to conduct the vegetable business using the micro credit
          • To promote their children for schooling
          • To protect their children from street life, drug addiction and criminalities
